GW2 Build Optimizer - EARLY BETA !!!
GW2 Build Optimizer is an in-game Nexus addon for creating a new Guild Wars 2 build or improving a selected character's current build. Choose PvE, PvP, or WvW, then select the fight scale and intended role. The optimizer searches compatible gear, traits, weapons, upgrades, and skills while applying mode-specific viability checks. Every armor piece, trinket, and weapon can keep its own prefix, so a hybrid kit is one search, not a compromise across the whole set.
The addon uses the official Guild Wars 2 API for account, character, build, and equipment data. It does not automate gameplay, send combat inputs, change the account, or read game memory.
Features
- Create new builds or improve an equipped character build. If Improve cannot beat your current kit, it keeps yours and says so.
- Search by game mode, WvW fight scale, role, and player-selected locks. Click a piece on the armor / trinkets / weapons sheet to pin it.
- Mix prefixes per slot. Choya can plate a mixed kit instead of one prefix on every piece.
- Ranger pets stay on the build (names and icons on the skill bar). Refresh game data once after install so the pet catalog downloads.
- Compare Current and Optimized attributes, defenses, healing, and estimated combat results.
- Review skills, traits, armor, trinkets, weapons, runes, sigils, and relics in one overlay.
- Copy a Guild Wars 2 build-template chat code directly to the Windows clipboard.
- Save named results by character and load them again later.
- Use Choya to discuss a playstyle and turn the response into a complete build that can be opened in Improve. You can keep typing while a request is in flight; a new send cancels the old one.
- News tab (tick sources in Settings): official RSS, patch notes, forums, GuildJen, and ArenaNet YouTube stills. Open a video in your browser; the overlay cannot play YouTube.
- About → mailbag: report a bug, send a suggestion, or fist bump. Replies show up under Messages. Traffic is HTTPS. You choose whether to attach your account name. Overlay chrome follows Settings → Language.
- Use the Nexus Quick Access icon or Ctrl+Shift+O to open the overlay.
Want to help build it? The source is public. Open a GitHub issue or pull request, or write in the mailbag. Passion is welcome; there is no separate in-game “petition for contributor” form.
Setup
- Install the addon through Nexus.
- Add a Guild Wars 2 API key with account, characters, and builds permissions. Inventories and unlocks are recommended.
- Configure a supported assistant provider for Choya (you need an AI API key): Gemini, OpenAI, Anthropic, or OpenRouter.
- Let the addon download and cache the current game-data catalog (items, skills, pets, and such). THIS TAKES A WHILE !!!! Not a lot of data, only anet servers for this are slow.
Combat and stat results are estimates intended for build comparison. The project is under active development and the source code is public.
Open the overlay
Click the Nexus Quick Access icon, or press Ctrl+Shift+O. Hover the icon and the tooltip names both.

ADDITIONAL NOTES REGARDING AI PROVIDER
I hear you. :D
You do NOT like to pay for AI. You like it free.
OpenRouter has a generous amount of models (hundreds). SOME of those stay free (with daily caps, of course). More than sufficient to experiment. Make an account, create an API key. The app loads the model list. The free ones are marked on their site.
ALSO, if you have a Google account, you can use Gemini. The addon default is Gemini 2.5 Flash. Settings will list whatever Google currently offers, including newer Flash models on their free tier when they have one. Free tiers and names change; pick what AI Studio shows as free that day.
EVEN if you put around 20 bux on OpenRouter it will last you for months. And you can pick some of the more spicy models from any top provider there.
PLEASE BE ADVISED.
Development notice: This addon is still under active development. Bugs may occur, and some calculations and combat interactions are not yet fully modeled. I will continue improving its accuracy, reliability, and feature coverage.
Choya’s recommendations also depend on the selected AI model. More capable models may provide more detailed and useful suggestions, but results should always be reviewed before changing your build.
I urge you to take your time and message the developer about any issues you may have.
